What is Cerelac?

Foods based on cereals, such as Cerelac, are among the most popular. Breast milk is marketed as a supplement to breast milk when it is no longer the sole food source for infants 6 months and older. Breast milk is often used as a replacement for mother’s milk. It contains soy products, vitamins, and minerals for a puppy until he or she begins eating solid foods. Cerelac can be given to puppies at three weeks of age if mixed with water or other liquids to make it easier for them to eat.

Disadvantages of Cerelac for dogs

  •  There is a low grade of energy in it.
  • This food does not contain enough protein and fat for your dog to grow.
  •  As the dog’s primary source of protein, Cerelac is not enough for their diet.
  •  Cerelac is made from vegetable extracts, so it does not contain all the minerals needed by a growing puppy.
  •  Compared to meat meals, the cereal that makes up Cerelac contains a low level of iron. Puppies under 12 weeks of age can develop anemia due to their bodies’ inability to store extra iron.
  • This product contains sugar, malt extract, soybean oil, and other additives, including artificial colors such as FD&C Red 40 Lake (E129), Titanium dioxide (E171) – be on the lookout for them on the packaging! There are artificial flavors such as vanilla flavor (which is derived from either castoreum or vanilla beans), caramel color (E150d), and chemicals. It also contains preservatives like BHA, propyl gallate, and trouble digesting it because there isn’t enough fiber in it.

Consult a veterinarian before giving your dog Cerelac if your pet has diabetes. This medication makes it more likely for them to develop diabetes.

What are the ingredients in Cerelac?

First, let’s clarify what “low-grade energy” is. Having low-grade energy means the product contains low levels of carbohydrates and protein. Protein and carbohydrates are the two main energy sources in dog food. Many people are familiar with the FD&C RED 40.

This is one of the most common dyes that have been linked to cancer. For instance, brain tumors have been linked to it. It is said that titanium dioxide is not harmful to dogs, but if your pup’s body doesn’t need it, and it isn’t benefiting his or her health, then why put it in their bodies? The preservative BHA is often used as a preservative in dog food to prevent fats from going rancid.

Our dogs love sugar, but it is not good for them, as sugar is very bad for their health.

It can cause a variety of health issues including Diabetes, spikes in blood sugar levels, Metabolic changes, dental issues such as tooth decay, enamel loss, cavities, weight gain leading to obesity over time, Pancreatitis, Arthritis, and many others.

Besides dried Skim Milk, Cerelac also contains dried Beef, which can be difficult for your dog to digest.

Cerelac Ingredients have more disadvantages than advantages, as you can see. Scientists and Veterinarians came together and developed a Cerelac that would be more suitable for your special pup as a result.

Formulas such as Pets will Puppy Cerelac and Pet Centre Puppy Cerelac. Veterinarians recommend these formulas, which provide your pup with the nutrition and probiotics it needs to grow big and strong.

How many types of Cerelac are there? (Puppy and Baby Cerelac)

There are four stages of Baby Cerelac, based on age group. Babies in Stage 1 must be 6 months of age or older, adults in Stage 2 must be 8 months of age or older, and children in Stage 3 must be 10 months of age or older. The four stages are all available in different flavors, such as honey, banana, mixed fruit, and rice & vegetables.

Cerelac for puppies is designed for puppies between 3 and 6 months of age. It is recommended to gradually mix puppy Cerelac with puppy food (Pedigree). As the puppy grows, slowly replace the Cerelac with rice curd. As well to Chicken, Vegetarian, and Beef flavors, Cerelac for puppies is also available. The puppy formula is designed to provide your pup with all the nutrients he needs while still being gentle on his digestive system.

Other reasons your pup may need Cerelac

You can also give your pup Cerelac if he has an upset stomach. Cerelac contains grains or maize, so it can soothe an upset stomach, and it’s easy to digest. Cerelac should only be given to sick dogs after consulting their veterinarian. You may also use Cerelac if your pup is old and has little or no teeth and has difficulty chewing. This product is soft and gentle on your pup’s mouth.

Healthy Ingredient to look out for

You are most concerned about the health of your pup. So, here is some information that can help you find a healthy food source.

The vitamins A, B, D, E, and K are essential for building bones, teeth, and connective tissues in your dog, and also great for their immune system.

Even though vegetables are not an ingredient your dog needs to consume, they can be very beneficial as they contain many vitamins and minerals.

Fruits like blueberries and apples, which aren’t a big part of a dog’s diet, are high in fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants, and cranberries may help with urinary tract issues and dental hygiene by killing bacteria.

Fats have a bad reputation, but they are essential for good cell function and digestion. In addition to providing energy, they help your dog absorb certain vitamins. This keeps their coat healthy and shiny. Look for high-quality fats, such as Omega-6, fish oils, canola oil, chicken fat, and olive oil.

A mineral is a nutrient

Minerals like zinc, iron, potassium, calcium, and manganese are important for your pet’s health. Additionally, dogs need [L Carnitine], a nutrient that transports fatty acids and helps in the cellular production of energy, as well as DL-Methionine, one of the 10 essential amino acids.

Keeping your pup hydrated is one of the most important things you can do to support their health. Make sure the ingredients list contains high moisture content. Make sure your pup always has access to freshwater.

An interesting fact! Did you know that dogs are direct descendants of wolves? This makes them the very first domesticated animal. When garbage dumps and dead carcasses from hunters attracted them, their wolf ancestors started living among people.

As a replacement for mother’s milk, Cerelac has been used for puppies under the age of three months. Using hot water to soften and mush dry puppy food is also an option. That method works just as well. The puppy gets all the nutrients she needs as she grows.

What are other substitutes for mother’s milk?

Several options exist today for substituting mother’s milk. Some of them can even be made at home. There are only a few ingredients you need: evaporated milk, corn oil or Karo syrup, pediatric multivitamin, and 2 egg whites. Prior to introducing your pup to any homemade recipes, make sure you consult your vet. Puppies have been given mother’s milk replacements by a number of puppy brands.

In conclusion, based on all the evidence we have, I am not convinced Cerelac will harm your pup in the short term; however, it will not provide much nutrition for them either. However, there are other options for mother milk substitutes, as we discussed. Do not feel bad if you are one of those parents who supplemented mother’s milk with Cerelac.

Every parent learns and grows as a puppy parent. A pup store employee can help you find the right food for your puppy if you visit your nearest location. Young puppies might benefit from something milder. Alternatively, you can do some research on different puppy foods and their ingredients. Our pups need a balanced diet just like we do as humans.
