For the purpose of hunting rabbits, foxes, and wolves.

The color scheme is red, cream, black, fawn, and brindle white

Dimensions: 27″ at the shoulder

Seven to ten years is the average life expectancy

Characteristics: A family member’s best friend, but not interested in playing with other dogs!

They are not very energetic, but a strong prey drive causes them to chase squirrels or cats in a hurry

That beautiful coat is his most distinguishing feature. These dogs have long, silky coats like greyhounds.

5. Pharoah Hound

Malta is the country of origin. The breed is thought to have originated as Pharaohic hunting dogs, but DNA analysis indicates that they aren’t that old.

In the Maltese mountains, rabbits were more likely to be hunted by them. Therefore, their name literally translates as “rabbit dog”.

Colors: chestnut, tan, and golden red.

Dimensions: 24″

11- 14 years is the average life expectancy

There are so many things about these dogs to like! A “crowd” is affectionate to them and they enjoy playing. The dogs are highly trainable and eager to please, except when they smell “prey.” Good luck getting them back.

The energy level should be fine for two twenty-minute walks. Just make sure the dog is on a leash and in an enclosed area.

There are not many of them. The ears definitely stand out, don’t they? Pharaohs are known to blush when they are excited.

6. Dachshund

At the turn of the 18th century, this breed was bred in Germany primarily to hunt badgers. They were called badger dogs.

Rabbits and mice will be hunted by a miniature version of the dog.

This is for the purposes outlined above!

There are four colors: red, cream, chocolate and tan, and fawn

There are three coat types: smooth, wirehaired, or longhaired.

Two sizes are available: miniature (11 lbs or less) and standard (16- 32 lbs).

12 years is the average life expectancy

Characteristics: They are bold and possess a strong personalities. Their stubbornness can easily overtake them. For such a large dog, their bark is very loud. People can form very strong attachments to one person and do not necessarily want to share this person.

An average amount of exercise is required of Dachshunds. Simply running around the house will not suffice. Exercise strengthens their back muscles and helps them maintain a healthy weight.

The long back is the most distinguishing feature. However, take caution. The backs of Dachshunds need to be kept trimmed to prevent excessive strain.

7. Italian Greyhound

Their origins may be traced back to the 12th century when dogs were bred to be lap dogs as well as hounds that chase small, fast-moving prey.

Most of these dogs are lapdogs rather than hunters.

Fawn, black, and blue

The size should not exceed 14″ and the weight should not exceed 5 kg.

Nine to twelve years of life expectancy

They are high-maintenance dogs because they will shadow you everywhere and then expect to sit next to you or even on you.

The energy level is mixed. You can let them lounge around, but you should take them for a couple of short walks every day. Avoid letting them wander off.

The bird’s most distinguishing feature is that it likes to perch on high surfaces such as window sills.

8. Whippet

Origins: Originated in England in the 19th century, although perhaps derived from “small” greyhounds dating from the 14th century.

Breeded by people who could not keep full-size greyhounds because of space or money restrictions.

In parts of the U.K., this breed is used for catching rabbits and as a racing dog.

According to the AKC breed standard, there are 18 possible combinations of colors. Among them are black, blue cream, blue brindle, and blue fawn.

Dimensions: 21″

12- 14 years is the average life expectancy

The character of the dog is that he is very affectionate with a wide range of people, both familiar and unfamiliar.

Italian Greyhounds have the same energy level.

The best thing about them is that they rarely bark.

9. Azawakh

Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger are the countries of origin. The valley in the Sahara is named after this region.

Gazelle chasing is the purpose

There are many colors in this painting. The colors are red, sand, fawn, blue, black, and brown.

Dimensions: 27″

11- 14 years is the average life expectancy

A wonderful person when they are familiar with you, dismissive of strangers. Loyal and protective when they know you well.

Even though they are content to lay around at home, they do need about 30 minutes of moderate exercise every day. Their favorite thing to do is chase anything that moves, from squirrels to skateboarders!

One of their best qualities is their fierce loyalty to family members.

Conclusion

I hope my descriptions of these nine breeds of dogs with long necks helped you expand your thinking.

Also, if you’re looking for a dog with a terrifying turn of speed, you won’t be disappointed.

Alternatively, perhaps your favorite is a Dachshund- which is without a doubt the most beautiful long-neck dog on my list.
